Garmin Approach S20 GPS Watch Review – An Analytic Overview

The Garmin Approach S10 GPS golf track is probably one of the best compact trackers on the market. It comes in at just over $100, making it a great value for what you get. If you’re looking for a good all around GPS that won’t break the bank, then this might be the one for you. But before you buy though, you might want to make sure that you know what you want out of your GPS before you go out and spend your hard earned money on it. Here’s what you should know.

Like many other Garmin products, the Garmin Approach S10 comes with a two year limited manufacturer’s warranty. This in itself is great. That way if something happens after the warranty has expired, you can bring your Garmin GPS golf watch back to Garmin for replacement or a refund. What’s also good is that the two-year warranty doesn’t apply to normal wear and tear. So if your watch stops working and you aren’t using it, you shouldn’t have to pay for a new one.

There are two different displays on the Garmin Approach S10 GPS Golf Watch. There’s the large, primary display which is easy to read from any distance and it also has a small, lower secondary display as well. While the larger display is easier to read from farther away, the smaller secondary display can be handy when you need some extra information about a particular course or distance. The benefits of these two displays is that you’ll always know exactly what you need to know about your course layout at any given moment, even if it’s in the middle of the night. You can easily see the course map with the larger primary display, and the range of the rangefinder on the secondary display will help you determine your best possible distance. With the Garmin Approach S10 you can even track your putting and chipping numbers.

A couple of things that you should know about the Garmin GPS Golf Watch is that it comes with an iControl which allows you to automatically align your GPS so that it’s pointing at the right spot. This is great for those who are out on a golf course and aren’t necessarily sure where their putting and chipping numbers are. The iControl makes it easy to align your GPS so that it’s always pointing in the exact direction so you can be sure you’re getting the closest approach to your golf ball. Another great feature of this model is that the golf course layout is shown on the screen in an automatic fashion which is helpful when trying to decide on a strategy for improving your golf game.

One of the biggest question marks about this watch is whether or not it has a GPS receiver. A few people have complained that they have had difficulty receiving their directions because the watches lack the ability to acquire satellite signals. As with most GPS devices however, the Garmin GPS Golf Watch comes with a built in antenna that solves this problem. Other reviews have suggested that the battery life on this watch is adequate but not as long as some others. You will need to make sure that you test out the battery life in the real world before you buy.

You also need to test out the accuracy of the GPS golf watch if you want to utilize it to its full potential. If you hold it up against a golf ball at the proper distance and speed, you should be able to get a precise reading. In practice sessions, however, I’ve found that the watch can’t always acquire the correct distance and speed. Also, if it is recording your game, you will have to hit the video button on your watch again to record your shot. These are minor problems but might become irritating if they cause you to stop hitting.

The other important aspect that should concern you is the number of features that come included on your Garmin GPS Golf Watch. Are there enough menus to cater to your every need? Do they allow you to store a large number of golf games and courses? Will it allow you to connect with online communities for golfers to share tips, discuss in-game issues, and challenge each other? You should try out the various options provided by the GPS to determine how comfortable it is to use. There is nothing worse than having to take your current GPS device out of the case in order to switch models.

This is just one review of the Garmin Approach S20 gps watch, but I think you’ll find that it’s fairly comprehensive. The main thing to remember when shopping for a golf GPS watch is to be sure it has all of the features you want and need. It’s also important to keep in mind whether you’ll be using it outdoors or indoors. If you tend to play a lot of golf or plan on bringing your watch outside most of the time, go with a model that’s waterproof and for use outdoors. If you plan on using the device indoors most of the time, make sure it’s shock resistant and will stand up to being dropped several times before becoming damaged.
