This watch has received numerous Editor’s Choice Awards for its durability and dependability. If you’re in the market for a new GPS watch, you don’t need to look any further.

The Garmin Fenix line includes watches for every occasion: from the casual runner’s watch to the athlete’s athlete. But for those who seek a little more from their Garmin watches, there are options such as the Garmin Fenix Chronograph watch or the Garmin Fenix IQ Wireless Smartwatch. These three watches each come with their own unique combination of features. In addition to running, hiking and cycling modes, each smartwatch offers additional features such as voice recognition technology, calorie counters, pedometers, touch screens, heart rate monitors and internet applications.

Running watch – This watch from Garmin has proven itself yet again with the release of the Garmin Fenix line. With a large, easy to read face, this watch sports an accurate representation of your foot’s position throughout the run. In addition, its two heart rate sensors and smartwatches make for accurate readings. The Garmin fenx 5 can store up to five hundred events, making it perfect for runners, triathletes and those who participate in shorter races. Although the built in GPS watch does not provide route guidance, you can add on a map by purchasing the Garmin Mapkit software.

The Garmin fenx series is available in two different trim packages. In the Ultimate package (which has everything included), you get a silver Garmin Fenix 5 Plus, a nice big black heart rate monitor and a chest clip. In the standard combo package, you get a black heart rate monitor, a silver watch, a water-resistant casing that has a silicone wrist band. The Garmin fenx five packages do not include the screen, although you can buy the screen separately.

Hiking watch – The Garmin fenx series makes for a great hiking companion, especially for those who love to travel on long distance hikes. If you are outdoors during the daylight hours, you can track your distance, speed and heart rate. During the night, you can view your recorded distance and speed. You can also use the Garmin HRM-X Blue tooth interface with your computer to display map information and to interface with the GPS in your hands, which makes it super easy to navigate through trails and road ways.

Distance monitoring using GPS – The Garmin Fenix GPS watches let you track your distance without having to lug around a cumbersome heart rate monitor. You just strap on the watch and take it with you. It has an inbuilt stopwatch, but you can also use the other features. It comes with a built-in power adapter that provides up to 24 hours of tracking time. As with most GPS watches, it also includes a battery life that is sufficient for most outdoor activities.

Connecting to your computer – Most Garmin watches have a USB port so that you can connect your cell phone or another portable device to it. The Garmin fenx series allows you to do this with the optional Bluetooth Low Energy module. This watch however, is particularly neat because it allows you to watch workouts on your computer as well. There is software available on many of the Garmin Fenix 5 units that allow you to view your workout, charts and other statistics from your computer as well as your watch. It also integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Word so you can type in your exercises and have them automatically recorded.

Varying heart rate based workouts – The Garmin fenx series also allows you to run or jog while doing other activities such as shopping or watching TV. The fenx series makes it easy to vary your intensity by varying the time and speed at which you run or jog. This feature is great for those who are new to interval training or for people who simply want a training effect with their workout routines. For example, you could jog one minute before you complete a one-hour workout on an elliptical machine or treadmill. If you want to train yourself for a half marathon, you could take two minutes to walk on a stair-stepping machine or run on a treadmill for five minutes before completing the workout on the elliptical or treadmill.
